You have completed lesson 3

Did you meet the success criteria?

  • I can explain what a carbon footprint is
  • I can use mathematics to estimate the carbon dioxide emissions from a car journey to school
  • I can explain why reducing carbon dioxide emissions is so important

Finished early? Here are some fun activities you can try:

Get creative and make a poster!

Show everyone why walking, cycling, scootering or taking public transport is good for our planet. Think about how we can cut down on those pesky CO₂ emissions from cars. Where should we put your poster to get everyone's attention? Maybe on the school website or in the newsletter? Have a chat with your teacher about it.

Time for some problem-solving.

Play Help the Joules family, you’ll be helping this American family figure out how to shrink their carbon footprint. It’s like being an eco-detective!

Have a class kōrero (discussion) about our own carbon footprints.

Think about what makes yours bigger or smaller. Then, brainstorm some easy ways we can all do better. For ideas and inspiration, check out what Kids Greening Taupō are doing. Remember, every little bit helps so Kia kaha in saving our planet!
