When Tuatara eggs are exposed to higher temperatures, male hatchlings are produced. Too many male Tuataras mean that they are unable to reproduce.
The numbers of some species such as the Little spotted kiwi (Kiwi pukupuku) and the Black robin (Kakaruia) have already reduced. When they are affected by thirst and hunger, they are less likely to breed.
Rockhopper penguins (Tawaki piki toka) and Albatross (Toroa) rely on food from the sea. When their food is less reliable, they spend longer searching for food and become exhausted.
Archey’s frog (Pepeketua) has semipermeable skin and requires moisture to survive. When the weather becomes drier and warmer, they might face serious problems.
